European Institute

Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution taking place with the adoption of computers and automation. The production is enhanced with smart and autonomous systems by machine learning. The aim is to connect computers to each other and to enable the communication without human involvement. Because of the support of smart machines, our factories will become more efficient and more productive. Some possible applications nowadays are autonomous equipment, vehicles or robots, as well as 3D printing. In our course, students learn about the possible application of industry 4.0. Following topics are covered:

History of the industry
Introduction to Industry 4.0
Design, principles and goals
Smart manufacturing
Internet of things
Smart factory
Applications in Europe
Computer-integrated manufacturing
Industry control system
Machine to machine
Digital modeling and fabrication
Cybersecurity in Industry 4.0
