Between August 22 and 31.2021, 8 teachers from Nigde Abdulahamit Han middle school from Turkey took part in our Gamification and Game Based Learning course, as part of the project “Shall We Play a Game”. During the 7 day program, the participants exchanged experiences in using games in the classroom, learned about the development of lesson plans with game elements and the process of developing and adapting educational games. They experienced first hand the benefits of gamified approach to learning and tried out a number of digital tools. Using the virtual reality glasses proved to be an especially interesting experience for our teachers. Some of the topics covered were:
– Preparing course designs using game elements
– Game designing process and examples
– Use of digital reality applications such as VR and AR
– The use of mobile devices (tablet, phone, computer) to support learning
– Online simulation games
– Use of QR codes
– Traditional games
– Board and card games
– Digital games and applications
– Using Web 2.0 tools
In addition to the course, the participants visited some of Vienna’s most famous sights, as well as the Technical University and the City Library. Before leaving Austria, the participants were awarded certificates of completion.
